Of points east and west

1st October 2017

Well, it looks like a mixed bag this week. Something for everyone, maybe. After all, I did promise you a wide-ranging instalment when I signed off last Sunday.

Of a quiet weekend

24th September 2017

One of the effects of having a busy week like last is that this one is comparatively quiet. No loco moves, no major incidents. Nothing of interest – or is there?

Of waiting for a train at the Motorway services

17th September 2017

We've been moving locos again this week, and so lots of pictures to wade through even though I was in the wrong place and couldn't get any of our new ramp doing its thing. But let's not get ahead of things, let us return to a quarry in a county, far, far away....

Of ramp at the ready

10th September 2017

14901 is still on holiday in Old Oak. It was supposed to be collected on Wednesday, but early on in the week it was apparent that Reids would have to reschedule so what was the last exhibit to arrive at the Open Day looks like being the last to depart.

Of the Common and the unusual

3rd September 2017

If you thought last week's blog was a little 'flat' then maybe this week's will make up for it. Like I said before, you never know what's going to happen around here.

Of chuff and stuff

27th August 2017

And here we are once again. It's been a bit of an odd week - not that any week follows any particular pattern here at the Briddon Country Pile, I'm scarcely a nine-til-five person – for quite apart from grandson being up here, there have been things going on, which I will share shortly, or at least as soon as they happen.

Of broom and Brush

20th August 2017

It's amazing, given the general untidiness and dust prevalent at the Geoffrey Briddon Building, how many brooms we have amassed. Here's a selection, and that isn't even all of them, nor those which have been burnt after I spotted woodworm in them. Quite why they have all found sanctuary here is something of a mystery, but here they are. I suppose it all adds to the quirkiness of our existence.

Of books and cabinets

13th August 2017

Not much philosophy to impart this week, except maybe one of my favourite quotes from Lord of the Rings, where Gaffer Gamgee says – It's the job as is never started that takes longest to finish. Wise words.

Of Team Tarmac

6th August 2017

Seems like there's a lot to say this week. I sometimes ask myself have I gone into things in too much detail to the point of inducing boredom, or is it too brief for those who don't indulge in this locomotive lunacy to understand what is going on.

Of not painting

30th July 2017

OK, fanfare, roll of drums. Seven years ago this evening I plucked up courage to write my first blog entry under the umbrella of Pete Waterman's Railnuts site.
