Of rock salt and hydraulic oil

28th January 2018

Some weeks in this saga mark significant milestones. Others just little stepping stones. This week's is much in tune with the former, as Andrew became equipped to transport a proportion of his fleet (not the heavier ones, yet) on his own low-load trailer.

Of anti-biotics and bus bars

14th January 2018

I decided to give Mr Strawbridge's antics a miss tonight. As a friend commented, he'd watched it last week but with gritted teeth. I knew exactly what he meant and I have no wish to return prematurely to my dentist.

Of Scanner and Santa

24th December 2017

OK, so how many of you are going to sneak off during Christmas Day to read this blog, I wonder?

Of air bags, buffers and beams

17th December 2017

I'm looking forward to getting back to 'loco work' next year, but for the moment it has been more effort at getting things organised to achieve it.

10th December 2017

Here we are again. This week's blog is sponsored by the makers of.... Hmm, why haven't I thought of that before?

Of various personages

12th November 2017

I looked over at the Darley hillside while shunting this afternoon. The trees were an attractive mix of greens and browns in the wintery sunshine, but the wind was chilling. Back at the Briddon Country Pile the central heating pump has died and the plumbers reckon a replacement is 2-3 days. Brrr.

Of being right and wrong.

15th October 2017

After all those pretty pictures last week, a bit of a dearth this week. Never mind, I'll try to make up for it with some pithy prose.

Of ramp at the ready

10th September 2017

14901 is still on holiday in Old Oak. It was supposed to be collected on Wednesday, but early on in the week it was apparent that Reids would have to reschedule so what was the last exhibit to arrive at the Open Day looks like being the last to depart.

Of chuff and stuff

27th August 2017

And here we are once again. It's been a bit of an odd week - not that any week follows any particular pattern here at the Briddon Country Pile, I'm scarcely a nine-til-five person – for quite apart from grandson being up here, there have been things going on, which I will share shortly, or at least as soon as they happen.
