Of track and Terrypicker

25th September 2016

One of my readers commented recently that one of the things he likes about this blog is that 'there is always something happening'. I have admitted that on occasion when I resort to reminiscing here in print it is because I've got little really to talk about. Is this going to be one of those weeks? I doubt it.

Of location, location, location

11th September 2016

Several readers speculated, after my teaser at the end of last week's edition, whether things had kicked off with Peak Rail's management again, which was logical but actually not so. 'It' has had a significant effect on events this week though, and resulted in the title being apposite (not a house move, but count them!). Plenty of pictures too, so should be a colourful edition.

Of 'are you the Briddons?'

4th September 2016

The first week of September has seen us having to turn our temporary lights back on inside the shed by nine pm and mourn the passing of yet another summer. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were able to work outside as late as half-nine at night, but the nights are drawing in quite markedly, and the need to crack on with the proper electrical installation to get those ceiling LEDs not to mention the various sockets around the shed that will obviate a multiplicity of extension cables, is, well maybe not uppermost, but always in the back of my mind.

Of miscellaneous pottering

10th July 2016

After starting rather later than intended, the move of Weekend Rails to new servers was duly completed and judging from my visitor stats, hardly anybody noticed. This week my own site is on the move, and probably nobody will notice that either...

Of sounding nice

26th June 2016

We have oft observed over the years that the last weekend of the month tends to be the weekend when things go wrong, and the first weekend is when things go really well. We've certainly had the former these last couple of days.

Of plus one to the collection

5th June 2016

I said last week that I'd have some good news to impart, but in truth I'm only going to give you half of it, as the second thing we had planned for the week didn't come off. Never mind, we've rescheduled everything back 7 days and hopefully, it'll be on the agenda for next week's blog instead.

Of insulation and washing lines

22nd May 2016

Grr, Microsoft. I was (notice the past tense) running Windows 7 and was perfectly happy with it, hiding behind my Firewall and Anti-virus, Anti-Malware, anti-everything softwares. And what does Microsoft do? While my back is turned, under the pretense of it being an 'upgrade' to Windows 7, they calmly change my operating system to Windows 10 without my permission and lumber me with software I don't want (but Microsoft knows better and believes I cannot live without) and a changed system that is so radically different that a number of the programs I already have won't work anymore.

Of Tom, vac and rollers

24th April 2016

I have received complaints from readers this week. 'Not enough pictures' from one and 'no videos' from another. Well this is supposed to be a blog: if you just want to see pictures then I believe Tumblr may be more to your liking. But I shall try and appease all with a fair smattering of photographs and a little video.

Of batteries and belts

17th April 2016

I was tempted to start with 'Did anyone miss me?' but given the number of e-mails and text messages I've had, mostly worried that the tardiness of last week's edition was indicative that something untoward had occurred to me, I know that many did.

Of stop cocks and handrails

27th March 2016

D'y'know, earlier on this week I composed a truly fascinating and thought-provoking opening paragraph for this week's blog, and here I am all set to rock the very foundations of my readers worlds and I simply cannot remember what it was.
