Tales of the Andrew Briddon Loco collection

Elsewhere - www.andrewbriddonlocos.co.uk - you can see the "official" face of the locomotive collection my son has built up. Here on "Weekend Rails" you can read a blow-by-blow account of our work in restoring and improving them.

Of no fun in the snow

Two weeks to Easter and we've snow everywhere.

Of sleeping beauty

A busy week here at the Briddon Country Pile. Let me see what I can tell you of it.

Of being cut down to size

4th March 2018

OK, I admit there's been a bit of snow this week. Three or four inches judging by the layers on cars and locos and such.

I should have known better than to declare that a start was at last made on the Wickham, for despite Jagger's best intentions, family matters took precedence and he has been unable to get back to Darley Dale to capitalise on the start he made.

Of chickens and eggs.

Slightly fewer miles this week, so slightly less fatigued. Migraines temporarily averted. No need to go to Tunstead. Has it been a holiday? Naah..

Of snow and souvenirs

OK, first off, those of you who are looking for lots of pickies this week are going to be disappointed – for whatever reason the camera has had a quiet week.

Of bogies, tunnel and dashcam

4th February 2018

A bit for everyone this week, I think. Whether its s.g., n.g., steam or diesel, we've something that might catch your attention, educate or amuse.

Of rock salt and hydraulic oil

28th January 2018

Some weeks in this saga mark significant milestones. Others just little stepping stones. This week's is much in tune with the former, as Andrew became equipped to transport a proportion of his fleet (not the heavier ones, yet) on his own low-load trailer.

Of sore thumb and grazed forehead

21st January 2018

I like to start the blog with a few pithy phrases that give an air of detached insightfulness. Unfortunately I can't think of any.

Of anti-biotics and bus bars

14th January 2018

I decided to give Mr Strawbridge's antics a miss tonight. As a friend commented, he'd watched it last week but with gritted teeth. I knew exactly what he meant and I have no wish to return prematurely to my dentist.

Of Sentinel, Lister and York Metro

7th January 2018

Oh dear, starting this a bit late tonight – been watching part 1 of that Strawbridge character trying to build a model railway all across Scotland.
