I should have known better than to declare that a start was at last made on the Wickham, for despite Jagger's best intentions, family matters took precedence and he has been unable to get back to Darley Dale to capitalise on the start he made.
Some weeks in this saga mark significant milestones. Others just little stepping stones. This week's is much in tune with the former, as Andrew became equipped to transport a proportion of his fleet (not the heavier ones, yet) on his own low-load trailer.
Ah, a portion of my faith in human nature has been restored. For in the latest Railways Illustrated has appeared a picture of 03 901 taken during the lunch break on the February 28th tour, and a write up to go with it that has managed to get all the details correct.

On Monday I was back up to Elsecar, to oversee the departure of Drewry 0-4-0DM 72229. Heanor Haulage arrived pretty well to time, with a folding neck trailer rather than the normal low loading type. This has the advantage that the rails are built into the folding part, and having unfolded, forms an instant ramp.

During the week we said a metaphoric goodbye to another of Andrew’s locos – “Claire” – depicted below. It was I suppose inevitable that with three ‘identical’ Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0DHs – “Claire” “Grace” and “Beverley” – Andrew needing to thin out the numbers would lead to one or even two of them departing, but I have fond memories of “Claire” – one of the most travelled locos in the collection.
