If you cannot abide RS8 and don't like reading about it, best not bother with this week's instalment...

Of another year's ending

30th December 2018

It is customary, even expected, that the last entry of the year takes as its theme a traditional review of the past twelve months.

Of pumps and bolts

3rd December 2017

December eh? Steph has stuck a calender under my nose and pointed out how few working days there are before Christmas, and how much Andrew and I keep trying to squeeze in.

Of chuff and stuff

27th August 2017

And here we are once again. It's been a bit of an odd week - not that any week follows any particular pattern here at the Briddon Country Pile, I'm scarcely a nine-til-five person – for quite apart from grandson being up here, there have been things going on, which I will share shortly, or at least as soon as they happen.

Of broom and Brush

20th August 2017

It's amazing, given the general untidiness and dust prevalent at the Geoffrey Briddon Building, how many brooms we have amassed. Here's a selection, and that isn't even all of them, nor those which have been burnt after I spotted woodworm in them. Quite why they have all found sanctuary here is something of a mystery, but here they are. I suppose it all adds to the quirkiness of our existence.

Of looking on the bright side

24th July 2016

It's been a long hot week up here in Derbyshire (and the other places I've been to for that matter) and I especially enjoyed being sat on the M25 Tuesday evening after two cars and a foreign forty-footer closed it at Junction 25 when they all decided to occupy that bit of raod at the same instant. OK, not as bad as the poor souls stuck overnight in their cars trying to make it out of the country through Dover, but why is it that traffic always seems to increase, never matching the rise or fall of the economy?

Of floors and walls

3rd July 2016

So here we are going into the second half of the year. After the drama of the last few weeks this edition should be rather quiet by comparison. On the good news side, the transfer of Andrew's site from one server to another was completed with only a few minor snags, and the site was back up on line before the weekend. It is this site's turn this week, so it will disappear temporarily on Tuesday and reappear around Friday. If you are one of my regular mid week readers, you either have remembered my warning last week, or this was why you couldn't find it!

Of livestock and loco stock

19th June 2016

RS8 seems to have attracted a lot ot interest during the week. It got mentioned on at least two enthusiast forums which has more than doubled our usual readership this week. I hope some of you were sufficiently curious to come back and give the blog another visit.

Of another addition to the collection

12th June 2016

Thank heavens for long summer evenings, we've needed all the daylight we can get this week. The week began with efforts to get the first section of floor painted in the shed, but as much of the week relates to events that occurred earlier, I suppose I had better rewind...
